Russian Dessert

morning coffee and sketchingThe weather has been so lovely lately and there is nothing better than enjoying the morning coffee on the porch with some sweets and sketching.

These moments can brighten up the whole day and when I’m in a good mood I love surprising my family with some treats. “Oreshki” or walnut shaped cookies is one of my favorite Russian dessert!!! These crunchy cookies filled with dulce de leche (cooked condensed milk) are absolutely delicious and super cute. My husband loves these cookies and can do everything for this dessert, even vacuum the room:) So today I decided to share this recipe with you. The recipe itself is quite easy, but you’ll need the special bakery form that you can find here or here.

If you follow my blog, you may know that I’m a tea person and drink coffee only once or twice a week but when Starbucks gave me the chance to try out some of their flavored K-cup packs, I jumped at the chance and now I’m a biggest fan of Starbucks® Caramel K-Cup® Packs.

The aroma of fresh bakery and sweet scent of coffee reminds me of holidays, family gatherings, and Christmas tree lights. Uhhh, I can’t wait when my family comes to visit me again and we’ll enjoy this dessert together. I already got Starbucks® Vanilla and Starbucks® Caramel K-Cup® Packs to impress them:)

INGREDIENTS:

Filling:
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 can cooked condensed milk

Dough:
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
¼ tsp baking soda
1 drop of vinegar
250 gr unsalted butter
3 cup flour
1 tsp vanilla

Dough:
Whisk sugar with eggs
Mix vinegar with soda
Combine mixture of sugar and eggs, vinegar mixtures with flour, vanilla to make dough

Divide the dough into small balls and fill in walnut forms with dough
Bake them on both sides over an open flame for about 5mins each or until golden brown. Use the “condensed milk-chopped wall nuts” filling to put two shells together.

  • Cute sketch! You should do a napkin series!

  • I have to try that dessert! It looks so delicious! Where do you get the mold? We have peach shaped filled cookies that are a bit similar, but those are bigger and softer.
