Walnut Cookies “Oreshki”

“Oreshki” or walnut shaped cookies is one of my favorite Russian desert!!! These crunchy cookies filled with dulce de leche (cooked condensed milk) are absolutely delicious and super cute. We baked these cookies while I was in Russia this summer and I still can’t forget the amazing aroma and the taste of it. So today I decided to share this recipe with you:) The recipe itself is quite easy, but you’ll need the special bakery form that you can find here or here.

INGREDIENTS:

Filling:
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 can cooked condensed milk

Dough:
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
¼ tsp baking soda
1 T vinegar
250 gr unsalted butter
3 cup flour
1 tsp vanilla

Dough:
Whisk sugar with eggs
Mix vinegar with soda
Combine mixture of sugar and eggs, vinegar mixtures with flour, vanilla to make dough

Divide the dough into small balls and fill in walnut forms with dough
Bake them on both sides over an open flame for about 5mins each or until golden brown. Use the “condensed milk-chopped wall nuts” filling to put two shells together.

Enjoy the most delicious dessert!!!

Love

Elena

Yummy yummy yummy!!! Sadly I gave up on dairy products over a year ago (lactose intolerant) but I still crave for sweets like that. I´m sure with my limited baking skills I couldn´t make them anyway :D
